Participation in clinical research studies is now available at HNA through our research company, Advanced Healthcare Innovations, PLLC.
A clinical study is a scientific investigation which looks at medications, treatments or devices to see if they are safe and effective. Each study aims to answer specific questions and to find better ways to prevent, diagnose or treat certain conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or rare diseases.
Some studies involve people with certain disease or medical conditions while others target healthy volunteers. Each study has a specific set of criteria which is used to identify the right participants. For example, age, gender, current medical treatments and medical conditions.
Your doctor might suggest a study to you or you can volunteer for a study on your own. The Research Team at Advanced Healthcare Innovations, PLLC is part of the HNA family! They will provide you with both written and verbal information about the study including details about possible risks and benefits. This is to ensure that you understand the key facts before deciding whether or not to participate. Once you decide whether you’re interested in the study, you would sign the informed consent form with the team. After this, the provider conducting the study will determine your eligibility for participation.
A few of the potential benefits of taking part in clinical studies:
A study participant’s health and safety are #1. The research team must follow very strict ethical and scientific rules both governed at the local, state, and federal levels. All studies must be approved by regulatory authorities, as well as independent ethics committees. During a study, you will have regularly occurring appointments with the research team, enabling you and/or the research team to act immediately if there are any concerns.
Participating in a study is rewarding but may require more of your time and attention than your normal treatments. This includes regular trips to the office to see the research team for study activities. Aside from the possibility of extra clinic visits, study volunteers may continue with their normal everyday life.
